Untangling CrossBridge

CrossBridge, formerly codenamed Alchemy, or also known as Flash Runtime C++ Compiler (FlasCC), has intrigued me since its inception, incubated under Adobe Labs back in 2008.
Beyond bridging C/C++ enabling reuse of existing codebases, projects compiled with CrossBridge run up to 10 times faster than ActionScript. With the potential to leverage OpenGL, even Flash capabilities can be extended such as multithreading based on POSIX Threads.

Armed with Wings: Rearmed

Armed with Wings: Rearmed is a 2D action/puzzle platformer set in the dark and dilapidated world of Black Mist. Players control both a skilled warrior and cunning eagle, traveling through various lands and fortresses that challenge the player’s ability to solve puzzles, engage enemies and traverse platforms.

Rearmed is a completely reinvented and vastly superior version to the original Flash game of 2008, released on armorgames and newgrounds.

Targeting Steam as a full desktop application, Rearmed has been made entirely in Adobe Flash CC and publish using Adobe AIR. It is an amazing example of how ‘real’ games can be made using only flash.

External Classes are kept to a minimum, all the core management, gameplay logic, and data is written directly on the timeline. Levels are created visually by arranging movieclips, enemies can be dropped anywhere, and creating events are breeze.

Steam API features have been implemented by using Ventero FreSteamworks ANE. Implementing these features have been near seamless.

The Away3D Team is pleased to announce the final production ready version of the the Away3D 4.0 engine!

This Gold release marks a revision of Away3D that offers major improvements in both flexibility and reliability. A high level view of updates are presented here, and an update of the features pages will follow along with a more detailed breakdown of API changes as release notes accompanying the source code. Wherever possible, functionality has been maintained in a consistent manner and updates have concentrated on bolstering the existing APIs while cleaning and commenting others for a much improved coding experience.
